…enjoying being unemployed

I’ve had a week off work so far and it’s been brilliant. With the festival on in Edinburgh it’s a bit like just having a holiday and I’m not sure it’s fully sunk in that I don’t ever have to go back to that office. I’ve seen a few people from work over the past week and that adds to the feeling of still being there, especially as I’m still close enough to the loop to empathise with their complaints. One thing is for sure, though, and that is that not being in an office is much better than being in an office.

This week I’ve read in quite a few places about plans by the South Australian government to get travellers to stay in their area by offering a variety of odd and tempting jobs – from tasting beer and judging ‘beach babe’ contests to remodelling homes for fairy penguins.

…looking to bring back the mystery

Last night I went to see comedy-magicians Barry and Stuart. Despite my huffing last year about my hacked review that appeared on their poster, I was quite excited to see that they had included my star rating on their promotional material this time round. It doesn’t have my name – just the site’s – but it feels quite special to know that it was me who awarded those stars to them even if no one else knows. (I’ve just re-read the review and, my word, it’s been destroyed but still displays my name next to it.)

…not impressed by some of Google’s findings

I love vanity searches on Google and because I think I’m the only person in the world with my name it’s nice not to have any competition for these searches. Thanks to my IMDB profile, scraper sites seem to think I’m a celebrity and will set up all sorts of weird and wonderful pages about me. Here’s my life path (looks good to me) and here’s a page asking about my birthday in as many ways as it can think of.
